Death/Decay

Death/Decay - This project combined the use of model making and Rhino, to create a design concept that can be digitized and fabricated using computer modelling programs - Virtual Environments ENVS10008 2012 SM2, Bachelor of Environments, Faculty of Architecture, Building & Planning, The University of Melbourne

Final model; inspired by the process of death and decay, resulting in the synthesis of a wearable wilting lantern that projects light inwards to reveal the pattern onto it's wearer, mimicking the pattern of decaying matter when exposed to light

Projecting patterns

Projecting the handcut pattern inspired by decaying matter using white LEDs, for lightweight yet effective integration of light

The helmet: illuminated to show suggestion of handcut pattern being projected onto the model

On the Model II

A close up of the illuminated helmet and projected handcut pattern on the models face, mimicking the suggestion of a random pattern found in decaying matter

Development I

Early iterations of the concept, mimicking curves that are found in dying plants that go through the process of wilting, a physical and visual indication of the process of death
